"Surfing is not just a sport. Surfing is about experiencing natural places and forces at their best and their worst." Surfrider Foundation Australia
At Go Neutral we have partnered with Surfrider Foundation Australia to help support them in their mission to inspire an engaged surfing and coastal community who are passionate about protecting our delicate planet for generations to come.
Surfrider Foundation Australia is a passionate and registered not for profit sea-roots organisation dedicated to the protection of Australia’s waves and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education. And just as Surfrider Foundation’s focus is on the sea, our focus at Go Neutral is on our land. The projects we support look at the planet holistically, taking into account land and ocean impacts from human activity.
Human agricultural activity in coastal regions and near waterways impacts the ocean every single day due to land erosion and chemical water run-off. We proudly support projects which rehabilitate land and reduce these environmental impacts. For example, sitting on ancient land within Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef catchment area, our Catchment Conservation Alliance project is regenerating 2,300 hectares of native forest on land that’s historically been cleared for pasture. These days Eucalypt and Acacia trees are flourishing, providing shade for cattle and a thriving habitat for native wildlife including bearded dragons, blue-tongue lizards, galahs and wallabies. What’s more, by improving water retention on the land and reducing top-soil runoff, this project also directly improves water quality flowing to the Great Barrier Reef.
